Precautionary Boil Water Advisory in Effect Until Monday

INDIANAPOLIS – Citizens Energy Group has completed repairs to a water main break at Stop 11 Road and Emerson that was damaged Saturday morning by a contractor during construction near the intersection. A precautionary boil water order issued by Citizens remains in effect until completion of testing expected Monday morning.

Until the order is lifted, customers in the impacted area are reminded to boil water before using for drinking or cooking. Bring all water to a boil, let it boil for three minutes, and let it cool before using, or use bottled water. Boiling or bottle water should be used for drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food preparation. Boiling will kill bacteria and other organisms if present in the water. Water can be used for showering, cleaning and flushing without boiling.

People with severely compromised immune systems, infants and some elderly may be at increased risk. These people should seek advice about drinking water from their health care providers. General guidelines are available from Environmental Protection Agency’s safe Drinking Water Hotline at (800) 426-4791.

As water pressure returns to normal, customers should expect some air in the lines in their house.  This is normal and customers should let the water run until it is clear.
