Testing Confirms Water in Area of Southeast Side Is Safe After Water Main Repair

INDIANAPOLIS – Citizens Energy Group has completed testing required by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and confirmed that drinking water in an area of the southeast side of Indianapolis is safe and no longer needs to be boiled prior to consumption. On Saturday, Citizens implemented a precautionary boil water order in the area after a water main break at Stop 11 Road and Emerson Avenue that was caused by a contractor doing construction near the intersection.

“We appreciate the cooperation of the community over the last 48 hours as we confirmed the safety of drinking water in the specified area of the southeast side,” said Jeff Willman, Vice President, Water Operations. “Customer safety and water quality are always top priorities at Citizens.”
