INDIANAPOLIS – Volunteers from Citizens Energy Group and the Indianapolis community will join forces with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful, Inc. to plant 100 trees on Saturday in the Bosart Brown neighborhood on the east side. The event is part of Citizens’ ongoing 10 Thousand Trees initiative, a program to plant 10,000 trees across the city by 2025 as a way to beautify neighborhoods and reduce combined sewer overflows to area waterways. Participants are encouraged to come in costume to celebrate the spirit of the season.

What:    “Trick or Tree” tree planting

Where:  Tuxedo Park Baptist Church, 29 N. Grant Ave. (meeting location)

When:   Saturday, October 28, 9 a.m.-12 p.m.

“Citizens Energy Group’s 10 Thousand Trees initiative will make a lasting impact in the Bosart Brown neighborhood,” said Jeffrey Harrison, Citizens Energy Group President & CEO. “We’re proud to collaborate with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful on this important project, and we know it will benefit the environment, the neighborhood and its residents for generations to come.”

David Forsell, Keep Indianapolis Beautiful President, said, “We are fortunate to live in a community where a major utility company recognizes the value of trees in our community, not only for their positive effects on our waterways, but for their inherent beauty. I invite everyone in our community to join KIB and Citizens in this innovative partnership, and come out to volunteer for ‘Trick or Tree’ or any of our upcoming planting days.”
