Natural Gas Storage Facilities and Access to Multiple Pipelines Bolster Gas Supply

INDIANAPOLIS – Citizens Energy Group has plans to ensure sufficient natural gas supplies for its customers under different weather scenarios, including the current very cold weather.

As part of its portfolio approach to natural gas supplies, Citizens owns and operates natural gas storage facilities in Greene County, Indiana. In addition, Citizens contracts with multiple interstate natural gas pipelines for access to both natural gas storage and production across the country.

“Recent weather events have caused wholesale natural gas prices in some parts of the country to increase. Citizens’ supply diversity and planning provides a lot of protection for our customers from these types of wholesale price fluctuations.” explained J.P. Ghio, Vice President, Energy Operations for Citizens.

Citizens customers continue to have among the lowest average natural gas bills in the state of Indiana as a result of Citizens’ storage assets and natural gas supply strategies.

As always, Citizens advises customers to practice simple conservation measures to lower their natural gas bills during the winter, including the following:

  • Lower your thermostat 5 degrees at night or when you are not home
  • Open blinds and drapes on sunny days
  • Seal cracks around windows and doors.

More conservation measures are available at CitizensEnergyGroup.com.

Customers who are having difficulty paying their natural gas bill are urged to go to CitizensEnergyGroup.com/help or contact Citizens at (317) 924-3311.
