Earth Day at the J – April 23

JCC Indianapolis and the Max and Mae Simon Jewish Community Campus welcomed members of the community on Sunday, April 23 to learn from organizations that share the common goal of protecting the earth and its resources. Citizens volunteers attended the event and educated attendees about the DigIndy Tunnel System and water conservation.

White River Cleanup – April 29

As a sponsor of the annual downtown White River Cleanup, Citizens helps recruit volunteers to remove litter and illegally dumped debris from the banks of the White River. This year we had 106 volunteers, 35 of whom were Citizens employees who brought an additional 18 friends of family members. An estimated 50-60 tons of garbage were removed from the banks for pick-up and disposal by Indy DPW. 345189463_1004843717170879_5024322982660507493_n

Mini-Marathon Pit Station – May 6

Nearly 50 employees, retirees, and their families got up early to volunteer their time for the OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon inside turn one of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The Citizens team was a well-oiled machine, setting up and tearing down the pit station for the event, but more importantly, they encouraged nearly 20,000 runners with real Citizens spirit in their race to the finish line. This has turned into a favorite event for the Citizens team, whether it’s first-timers, veteran volunteers, or families creating new traditions. Thank you to each of our volunteers for making our community a place where we all want to live, work, and play.
