Calling a professional for regular maintenance can keep your home’s heating and cooling equipment running efficiently. Here are a few other tips: 

- Add caulking and weather stripping as a simple and effective air-sealing technique that offers quick returns on investment. 
- Seal cracks and openings to reduce drafts and cold spots in the winter months and improve comfort. 
- Clean or replace filters on furnaces once a month or as recommended by the system’s manufacturer. 

- Clean warm-air registers, baseboard heaters, and radiators as needed. Make sure they are not blocked by furniture, carpeting, or drapes. 
- Insulate ducts in unconditioned spaces. 
- Seal your ducts to prevent leaks. 
- Install attic air barriers such as wind baffles along the entire attic eave to help ensure proper airflow from the soffit to the attic.
