Wastewater Supervisor - Process Control Systems

We have an exciting career opportunity for a Wastewater Supervisor Process Control Systems to join our team!
 
 
The successful candidate provides and ensures optimum plant(s) and lift-stations performance to meet compliance with wastewater quality objectives through designing, deploying, and supporting the company's process control operations, database management, database support, end user management and support of process hardware and software. This position works closely with Operations, Maintenance and IT to resolve control and application performance. Ensures all SCADA and independent control systems are secure, operational, accurate and calibrated through a staff of; (3) Wastewater System Analyst. Position is responsible for and establishes annual budgets for staffing, materials and control/application system licenses. Position is available 24 hrs. a day for response and requires working off shifts at times to implement program updates and installations.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Designs, troubleshoots, maintains and recommends improvement to the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system (SCADA), Programmable Logic Control (PLC) programs, network protocols and application databases.
  • Interfaces with Operations and Maintenance managers to support, maintain and enhance SCADA and various control systems. Coordinates system upgrades to minimize operational and maintenance impacts to established permit limits.
  • Develops and implements control and application SOPs for wastewater treatment facilities. Analyzes and implements control process modifications and adjustments based upon best industry practices.
  • Supervises daily activities of Wastewater System Analysts and Applications Systems Support Specialist.
  • Supports and implements appropriate SCADA security measures. Maintains computer hardware, communication equipment, and other associated technology. Coordinates with Corporate IT and Engineering to support the business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Maintains hardware/software asset lists; assists in the development and implementation of departmental SCADA procedures such as making back-up copies of control programming. Ensures consistent configuration, protocols, and procedures are used in the wastewater control system(s) networks.
  • Organizes and provides training to plant personnel on new or updated control and application systems with the aid of vendor involvement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent experience
  • 10 years experience in a highly technical Information Technology role
  • Project management experience in installation and start up of supervisory control and data acquisition systems, preferably with wastewater utility or an equivalent.
  • Knowledge of Honeywell and Bristol Babcock transmitter, Allen Bradley PLC, or other SCADA software, and RS logic software.
  • Knowledge of programming including DCS, SCADA, PLC, HMI, Visual Basic, Historian, Reporting Systems and various application programs used in a utility environment.
  • Experience setting and managing strategic and operational plans and the associated budget.
  • Knowledge of audit and security principles and ability to implement effective security and controls.
  • Valid driver's license
 
Preferred Skills/Qualifications:
  • Master's Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or Environmental Engineering
  • Class IV Wastewater treatment license

Minimum Salary: $86,600/year
