24-Hour Emergency Work and Lane Closures Expected to Last Three Days

INDIANAPOLIS – Citizens Energy Group will close both northbound lanes and the easternmost southbound lane of Meridian Street before today’s evening rush hour to repair structural failures in a 110-year-old clay sewer, brick manhole and connecting storm inlet.

All northbound traffic on Meridian Street will be detoured at 38th Street, redirecting vehicles to Illinois Street and Pennsylvania Street, and returning traffic to Meridian at 46th Street. Citizens crews will work around the clock until the work is complete, which is anticipated to last three days. Meridian Street is expected to open back up by the evening rush hour on Friday, February 8.
