Financial Assistance Is Still Available for Those Who Qualify

INDIANAPOLIS – Citizens Energy Group is voluntarily extending the moratorium on natural gas service disconnection for customers with pending applications for the Energy Assistance Program (EAP). The suspension of disconnection will continue for each customer until their EAP application is either approved or denied.

Jeffrey Harrison, President & CEO of Citizens Energy Group, said, “We know the COVID-19 pandemic has had significant financial impacts on our community. Citizens wants to ensure customers have access to the maximum levels of financial assistance available to ensure continued utility service.”

More information about EAP can be found by calling 211 or visiting www.in.gov/ihcda and clicking on “Homeowners and Renters.” Customers approved for EAP automatically receive a 10-25 percent discount on their natural gas bill through Citizens’ Universal Service Program (USP). USP customers also may receive crisis assistance funds to be applied to past-due heating bills.

In addition, customers in need can visit www.CitizensEnergyGroup.com/Help or call 317-924-3311 to learn more about other forms of assistance, such as Citizens’ Warm Heart Warm Home Foundation, and set up flexible payment arrangements.
