Water Is Safe for Drinking and Cooking

INDIANAPOLIS – Citizens Energy Group has lifted the boil water order issued on March 27 for customers on the east side of Indianapolis. The order was the result of a water main break west of 22nd Street and Dr. Andrew J. Brown Ave. Some customers in the affected area may continue to observe lower pressures until the main is fully repaired.

Citizens has completed testing required by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management and confirmed that drinking water is safe and no longer needs to be boiled prior to drinking and cooking.

The closure of 22nd Street is expected to remain in place until late next week. Traffic has been detoured, and drivers should follow all posted signage to avoid delays. Citizens will repair the roadway to City-approved construction standards. In addition, representatives from Citizens have been on site engaging affected property owners and residents, coordinating with them on restoration efforts and recommended next steps.

Customer safety is of the utmost importance at Citizens. We know water outages and boil orders are inconvenient, and we deeply appreciate customers’ patience and cooperation over the past few days.

Please share this information with all other people who may have been affected by this order, particularly those who may not have received this notice directly. You can do so by posting this notice in a public place or distributing copies by hand.
