Darwish’s Career at Citizens Spans More Than Two Decades 
INDIANAPOLIS – Citizens Energy Group today announced the promotion of Abed Darwish to Vice President, Information Technology. Darwish succeeds John Lucas, who retired at the end of February after 17 years at Citizens.
With more than 20 years of service to Citizens, Darwish has held roles in Corporate & Public Affairs; Customer Operations; Capital Programs & Engineering; Sales & Marketing; and, most recently, Information Technology, where he served as Director of IT Business Solutions until his promotion.
As Vice President, Information Technology, Darwish will be responsible for driving the company's overarching technology strategy and ensuring that IT infrastructure, digital initiatives, and artificial intelligence closely align with Citizens long-term goals. Leveraging his extensive cross-functional experience, he will lead enterprise-wide technological transformation, oversee cybersecurity operations, and champion innovative IT solutions that enhance both customer experience and operational efficiency.

Darwish holds a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from The Ohio State University and was inducted into engineering honors society Sigma Gamma Tau for research, achievement, and mentorship in aerospace, computer science, and engineering. He is a graduate of Indiana University’s Tobias Fellows program and the United Way of Central Indiana’s Leadership United Program. Darwish has also served on the boards of the Emberwood Center and Community Addiction Services of Indiana (CASI) and is a member of the Indiana CIO Network and Indiana AI Innovation Network.
