Closure for Sewer Project Will Last from July 29, 2019 to February 29, 2020
INDIANAPOLIS – Beginning July 29, 2019 and lasting through February 29, 2020, Madison Avenue will be closed to through traffic between McCarty Street and South Street as Citizens Energy Group completes a sewer project related to the DigIndy Tunnel System. Local access will remain open during the closure. Through traffic will be redirected via posted detour signage.
The DigIndy Tunnel System, a 28-mile network of underground tunnels that will be complete by 2025, will nearly eliminate sewer overflows in Marion County. The first 10-mile segment of the tunnel system opened in December 2017 and has already prevented nearly 1.3 billion gallons of sewage from flowing into local waterways.
