With accompanying lane restrictions along adjacent College Avenue, two phases of roadway closure in the next month will allow for a water main extension.
INDIANAPOLIS – Citizens Energy Group today announced the upcoming closure of a partial block of E Georgia Street--between S East Street and S College Avenue--on or after Monday, October 9. Construction will allow for the first of two phases of a water main extension project. A lane restriction along adjacent College Avenue will accompany the E Georgia Street closure during the first phase of the project, lasting about two weeks.
Local access will be retained during the E Georgia Street closure via various entrances to all abutting properties, including The Waverly Apartments, Indiana Farm Bureau Insurance, and Metazoa Brewing Company. Through traffic may detour around this closure either to the north via E Washington Street or to the south via E Louisiana Street.
The second phase of construction will commence approximately two weeks later (anticipated on or after Monday, October 23), closing an even smaller segment of E Georgia Street just east of its intersection with S College Avenue. The road closure during this second phase will also last for approximately two weeks. Local access will similarly be maintained during this closure for adjacent properties including the Vue Luxury Apartments. Through traffic may detour around this closure either to the north via E Washington Street or to the south via Bates Street.
S College Avenue will not see a full closure during either phase of construction, but lane restrictions will be present at various times.
Travelers are reminded to follow all signage and be especially careful when near an active construction zone. Citizens has worked in advance to communicate details of this construction project and the roadway restrictions to local property and business owners.
