Citizens Energy Group Is Proud to Sponsor 2020 Cleanup Effort

INDIANAPOLIS – Friends of the White River has reimagined its annual White River Cleanup to account for the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, rolling out an initiative that invites members of the public to Clean Our Watershed.

The group organized Clean Our Watershed to be a flexible and socially distanced way to continue the momentum of the cleanup, which would have celebrated its 32nd year in 2020. Volunteers can pick up litter when and where you please, tracking your progress either by filling out a form or using an app.

Friends of the White River Executive Director Kevin Hardie said, “Your personal Clean Our Watershed effort can be along the river or a tributary, in a park or on school grounds, or even on the street where you live! We ask only that you let us know what you collected, where and when. It’s fun, easy and allows you to help your community while practicing social distancing. We are excited about this new opportunity, and we are grateful for Citizens Energy Group’s continued partnership and support of our cleanup efforts.”

Clean Our Watershed activities can be carried out now through October. Friends of the White River will distribute free trash-collection bags and gloves to volunteers on September 12 at Riverside Adventure Park, Holliday Park and Broad Ripple Park.
