David Polley Honored for Extraordinary Service to Others Across the Globe
INDIANAPOLIS – Citizens Energy Group congratulates employee David Polley on receiving the Jefferson Awards Gold Medal in recognition of his commitment to improving others’ lives through his nonprofit organization, Increase Ministries. The award was presented to Polley today by Citizens President & CEO Jeffrey Harrison.
Citizens is a corporate partner of Multiplying Good, the nonprofit that coordinates the Jefferson Awards. This marks the 12th year Citizens has participated in the program, which was established in 1972 by Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, U.S. Senator Robert Taft, Jr. and Sam Beard, a former staff assistant to Senator Robert Kennedy. Named for Thomas Jefferson, the program recognizes outstanding public service and aims to honor unsung heroes in the community.
Polley has worked for Citizens for 29 years and is currently a valve and regulator mechanic. He was nominated for the award by Director of Shared Field Services Melissa Lawson.
Along with his wife, Carol, and daughters Rebekah and Rachel, Polley started Increase Ministries in 2013. The nonprofit’s mission is to help children and families around the world grow academically, physically, spiritually and socially. While Carol, an ordained children’s minister, is the creative force behind Increase Ministries, David is active behind the scenes, doing whatever it takes to make overseas travel possible. He uses nearly all of his paid time off to travel to places such as Cuba, Ghana, India, Kenya, the Philippines, Rwanda and Tanzania.
“On behalf of everyone at Citizens Energy Group, I offer my congratulations to David on receiving the 2019 Jefferson Awards Gold Medal,” said Harrison. “His commitment to making a difference on a global scale makes him a very worthy recipient, and Citizens is fortunate to have him on our team.”
Polley and other Jefferson Award winners from across the U.S. will be recognized for their exceptional community service work in June at the National Awards Ceremony in Washington, D.C.
