Work Completed a Day Earlier Than Expected
INDIANAPOLIS – Citizens Energy Group has reopened both northbound lanes and the easternmost southbound lane of Meridian Street between 38th and 46th Streets. All lanes are now open.
The closure was originally expected to last through Friday afternoon. However, efficient around-the-clock work by Citizens’ contractors resulted in the lanes reopening one day early. The closure was necessary in order to repair structural failures in a 110-year-old clay sewer, brick manhole and connecting storm inlet.
Crews also took advantage of the closure to inspect nearby infrastructure. Aside from a small number of non-emergency issues, which will be corrected in the near future, the infrastructure was confirmed to be sound and functioning as expected. Additional lane closures or inconveniences to motorists are not anticipated.
