Q&A: Meet Danielle McVea, Distribution Dispatcher

Written by Mandy Saucerman | 3/25/22 4:04 PM

When she’s not answering phone calls from customers and coworkers as a Distribution Dispatcher, Danielle McVea is busy running her own business and empowering others to find jobs.

When did you start working at Citizens?

I started working for Citizens Energy Group as a part-time employee in the Dispatch office in August 2017. I have been a full-time Dispatcher since October 2019.

What did you do prior to coming to Citizens?

Prior to working at Citizens, I was a business consultant for a healthcare company. My primary responsibility was to help each state reach their cost-of-care savings goal by performing provider contract compliance audits.

What do you enjoy about your job?

I enjoy helping people and solving problems. I think of the Dispatch office as a resource center. Every day, we assist customers and work with various departments at Citizens.

What are some of the challenges you face in your job?

Because the Dispatch office gets so many calls about so many different issues or concerns, the expectation to know everything and be able to answer every question can be a challenge. To overcome this challenge, I try to use all the resources I have, including asking coworkers for help. I also try to build good working partnerships with those in other departments.

What do you appreciate about working at Citizens?

Citizens is one of the few companies that still offers a pension along with a 401(k) plan. To me, that is one of the greatest benefits of employment.

How do you spend your time outside of work?

I enjoy singing, dancing, reading, and spending time with my family and our two dogs. I also keep busy running MEMBA Healthcare Consulting, a business I started in 2019, to provide training and job placement for individuals in the medical billing and coding industry.
