Written by Mandy Saucerman | 1/17/20 6:28 PM

LaTona Prentice began working at Citizens while in college and has spent her entire career here since 1984. Read on to learn more about her!

What are your primary responsibilities as Vice President, Regulatory & External Affairs and how long have you been in this position?

I lead our government and external affairs activities as well as the development of the strategic regulatory direction for each of our seven regulated utilities. After our Board of Directors gives us the authority to prepare and file a rate proceeding, I lead Citizens’ efforts to prepare and file each utility’s rates and terms and conditions for approval by the Indiana Utility Regulatory Commission. I have held my current position since August 2011, when Citizens acquired the Marion County water and wastewater utilities.

What other positions have you held at Citizens?

While going to college, I worked at Citizens during two summers in the marketing department, and one summer pulling weeds and driving a forklift at the Coke Plant. After graduating from Ball State University, I accepted an accountant position before moving into various positions in the Regulatory Affairs department.

What do you like best about your job?

I like that I never do the same thing twice. No matter what kind of regulatory case is going on, there’s always something different and a new challenge or issue to think through.

What do you wish other people knew about Citizens?

I wish people understood how seriously Citizens takes its role in the community. We focus strongly on what is in the best interest of our customers.

How do you like to spend your time outside of work?

I enjoy spending time with my family. We take two family vacations each year. I also like to read and play golf.

What is a fun fact about you?

My dad retired from Citizens as a regulator mechanic a couple years after I started working here.

Tell us about your family.

My husband, Kirk, and I have two boys. Ryan is 27, and Chad is 17. And we have a dog named Gracie.
