SAFETY TIPS: Keep Safety in Mind While Doing Yard Work

With the arrival of warmer weather, many of us are probably beginning to do yard work. It’s important to keep safety in mind as you use tools and ladders to do outdoor chores.

Lawn mowers and string trimmers can throw rocks and other items. Always protect your eyes by wearing safety glasses, and always wear shoes or boots (not sandals) when mowing or trimming.

Put on protective gear before using a power washer. Wear goggles, long pants, and sturdy footwear to keep you from getting hurt.

Falls from ladders can be fatal. Make sure ladders are on level, firm ground. They should extend three feet above the roof. Keep your belly button between the rails. Do not lean or stretch to the side.
