Go Red for American Heart Month

Written by Melissa Hehmann, RDN, CDE | 1/31/22 11:13 PM

After more than 18 months into this pandemic, Americans feel overwhelmed and stressed, which negatively impacts cardiovascular health. This February, we are uniting for American Heart Month to help Reclaim Your Rhythm to live longer, healthier, fuller lives. Because losing even one mom, brother, friend or neighbor to cardiovascular disease is too many.

Here are some ideas on how you can GO RED for American Heart Month.

  • Download and share the Heart Month and National Wear Red Day toolkit.
  • Wear Red on National Wear Red Day: Friday, February 4.
    • Show off your red outfits and post them to your social media channels, using #IndyGoesRed and tagging @ahaindiana!
    • Send your Wear Red Day photos to Tim.Harms@heart.org to be featured on the American Heart Association Facebook page!
  • Attend the IU Health ‘Talk With A Doc’ Webinar | Feb. 9 | 12pm-1pm. REGISTER HERE for this important community conversation about modern approaches to heart disease detection and prevention. Learn about cutting edge developments in the fight against heart disease and stroke from three local IU Health physicians.
  • Provide your co-workers, family and friends with information about heart disease, with online health lessons provided by the American Heart Association.
  • Inspire your friends, family and coworkers to reclaim their rhythm and share it on social media. #IndyGoesRed

As you can see, there are lots of ways to be a part of Wear Red Day and American Heart Month, so we hope you will join in and Go Red!
