Citizens for Good: Recent Volunteer Events Clean Up Waterways

Citizens Energy Group joined the City of Fishers and other environmental stewardship groups for a Corporate Action Day focused on the betterment of the natural environment around Geist Reservoir. The annual Geist Cleanup was held on Friday, September 17 and was a great success with approximately 80 volunteers in total, including nearly 20 Citizens Energy Group employees. Citizens volunteers alone collected approximately 175 pounds of debris along the Fall Creek Road causeway and adjacent areas.

Just over a week later, on Saturday, September 25, several employees participated in the annual White River Cleanup event organized by Friends of the White River. Volunteers removed more than 15 tons of debris from the banks of the White River in downtown Indianapolis.

As was shared with employees in our Source Water Protection Week series in late September, events like these are a great way to be involved in the community and raise awareness about the importance of protecting precious drinking water sources.
