Citizens Energy Group is encouraging customers to reduce lawn irrigation and conserve water during this summer of hot, dry weather in Central Indiana.

Each year, Citizens Energy Group’s fundraising team organizes an employee giving campaign in support of the United Way of Central Indiana. The 2023 United Ways of Caring Week is planned for the week of August 21-25.

Purdue University has been involved in Citizens Energy Group’s Partnership for Excellance in Research and Learning (PERL) since 2016. PERL offers Citizens an opportunity to connect with the workforce of the next generation and collaborate on solutions to real-world challenges while providing college students with professional development opportunities. Ten students and three faculty members were engaged in three projects over the 2022-2023 academic year.

Our volunteer spotlight is a chance to meet a Citizens Energy Group employee who is making a big impact in the community outside of their job. Citizens employees are encouraged to volunteer at Citizens-sponsored events, or at community organizations of their choice.

Tim Bedgood joined the Indianapolis Water Company in 1994 as a leader in the field service department. He transitioned to Citizens Energy Group as a Transmission Controller in September 2011 as part of the acquisition.

As executive director of West Indianapolis Development Corp. (WIDC), Lisa Laflin considers herself many things, including “dot connector, cat herder, and chainsaw juggler.” Many employees of community development corporations (CDCs) or other nonprofits probably can relate. Working to keep many plates spinning at the same time, Laflin is a passionate voice for affordable housing and the flourishing of neighborhoods served by WIDC.
