Citizens Energy Group’s summer college interns participated in a speed networking event with several of the company’s officers on Friday, July 26.
Each student was given 10 minutes to converse with each participating officer and learn more about their career journeys. Officers shared their educational backgrounds and gave the interns advice on taking risks, making mistakes, being effective communicators, and working hard.
“With insights about working hard, becoming self-aware, developing career networks, and becoming a contributing member of a team, the officers really shared what it takes to be successful executives,” said intern Payton Staman, a senior at the University of Indianapolis. “My biggest personal takeaway came from Mark Jacob, who discussed ‘derailers’ and self-awareness.”
Participating officers included Mike Strohl, Senior Vice President and Chief Customer Officer; Mark Jacob, Vice President, Capital Programs and Engineering/Quality; Chris Braun, Vice President, Energy Operations; Sabine Karner, Vice President and Controller; Jeff Willman, Vice President, Water Operations; and Jodi Whitney, Vice President, Human Resources and Chief Diversity Officer.
