Citizens Supports Geist Clean Up
As a way of demonstrating its environmental stewardship, Citizens Energy Group was a corporate partner of the annual Geist Reservoir Clean Up on Friday, October 18. A dozen employees volunteered to help remove trash from the area. The event was organized by the Fishers Department of Public Works, the Geist Lake Coalition, and the Fishers Stormwater Utility.
Geist Reservoir, in the northeastern portion of Marion County, stores water to assure a dependable water supply for Fall Creek and Citizens’ Fall Creek Treatment Plant.
America Recycles Day is November 15
In celebration of America Recycles Day on November 15, Citizens Energy Group’s Sustainability Advisory Committee would like to provide our employees with a few reminders about our Mixed Stream Recycling Program.
Recycling plays an important role in contributing to a sustainable future; it can reduce reliance on landfills and help conserve natural resources. We encourage our employees to make a collective effort to protect our environment through recycling. Thank you for doing your part!
How do I recycle at Citizens?
Use only containers with clear plastic liners for recyclables. Typically, these can be found at each work station and in each meeting room. Recyclable items include flattened cardboard, paper, metal cans, glass, plastic bottles and plastic jugs. Never recycle anything smaller than a credit card. Make sure your recyclables are rinsed and mostly dry.
What goes in the trash?
Anything other than what’s listed above – including food waste, greasy pizza boxes, and Styrofoam – should be placed in containers with black plastic liners. Typically, these will be found in common areas, restrooms, or at the end of hallways.
What about electronics?
Electronic waste should be recycled. If you need to dispose of electronics at work, please contact one of the following individuals:
- General Office – Michelle Dinkins
- Langsdale – Tracy Andrews
- Belmont – Latasha Stewart
- Southport – Mike Wilson
- Perry K – Glenn Smith
- Chilled Water – Dan Koiro
- White River Lab – Mark Gray
- White River and Water Plants – Greg Thompson
- Riverside – Herb Champlin
- Johnstown – Alan Waggoner
Also, please note that there are blue tubes and five-gallon plastic buckets throughout Citizens facilities where you can recycle alkaline batteries.
If you have questions regarding recycling electronics or alkaline batteries, please contact Alan Wiseman in Environmental Stewardship.
