Last month, Citizens Energy Group supported events aimed at raising awareness about environmental stewardship.
“Our Commitment to Sustainability includes a goal to become a recognized sustainability partner in our community,” said Ann McIver, Director, Environmental Stewardship. “Events like this can move the needle on that goal as we make a connection to the watershed or see the White River through a different lens. Participating allows us to see how our individual choices can aggregate to make a difference in the community.”Thank you to our employees and their family members for participating in these projects!
Geist Reservoir Cleanup: On Friday, September 14, several Citizens employees joined the Geist Lake Coalition to clean up the area around the reservoir, which supplies water to Citizens’ Fall Creek Treatment Plant.
White River Cleanup: The 30th Annual White River Cleanup took place Saturday, September 15. Rescheduled due to inclement weather in the spring, the event was sponsored by the Friends of the White River. Volunteers collected 17.5 tons of trash! Tony Gomez, Wastewater Maintenance Planner, who has enjoyed participating in this event for several years, is pictured here with grandchildren Diego and Faith.
Car Free Day Indy: As a sponsor of the third annual Car Free Day Indy, Citizens encouraged employees to carpool, bike, and take public transportation to help raise awareness about air quality on Friday, September 21.
