Citizens Energy Group celebrated the completion of the White River Rock Ramp alongside the City of Indianapolis and the Riverside community on Monday, May 23. The rock ramp ensures water supply for Citizens’ White River Water Treatment Plant via an upstream water intake, contributes to a healthy fish population, and partially restores Lake Indy, a popular recreational amenity for the Riverside community for more than 100 years.
Signage upstream of and just prior to the rock ramp advises canoers and kayakers to exit the river to safely walk their watercraft around the structure via a portage, which is a path located on the east side of the river through the park. River users are advised not to wade out into the rock ramp for fishing or other activities.
Citizens Energy Group President & CEO Jeffrey Harrison speaks at the rock ramp celebration on May 23.
