The DigIndy Art Project is back for a third year. Citizens Energy Group is partnering with Big Car Collaborative to tell the story of the DigIndy Tunnel System through art. This year, we are transforming a Citizens building at Meridian Street and Westfield Boulevard into a mural as part of our ongoing efforts to educate the public about the transformational benefits DigIndy is providing our community.
The building is a pump station built in the mid-1950s that sends combined sewer overflow to the Belmont Wastewater Treatment Plant.
Big Car creative director and sought-after artist, Andy Fry, along with partnering artist, Ess McKee, will create the DigIndy story through a crowd-sourced, collaborative mural design method. Throughout August, Citizens engaged in virtual community conversations and conducted employee and community online surveys to help direct the narrative.
The mural is expected to be complete by the end of September. You can check out the progress of the project along the Central Canal and learn more at DigIndyTunnel.com/Art.
