Several employees are building playhouses to be auctioned off to raise funds for Citizens’ Warm Heart Warm Home Foundation™.
The annual Home-A-Rama home show, presented by the Builders Association of Greater Indianapolis (BAGI), features a preview party the evening before the show begins. A portion of the ticket sales from the preview party support a charitable partner each year. Since 2019, Warm Heart Warm Home has benefited from the event.
To leverage the partnership, Greg Sawyers, Director, Customer Relationships and President of the Foundation, and Diane Ashlock, Commercial Sales Consultant, who serves on the BAGI board, came up with the idea of auctioning off a playhouse at the home show with all funds going to Warm Heart Warm Home.
After Ashlock presented the idea to BAGI’s members, building materials company 84 Lumber offered to donate all the supplies for two playhouses.
This fall, Crit Crabtree, Manager of Facility Operations, set up indoor space at Langsdale and enlisted the help of Operations employees to build the first playhouse, which is a basic house design.
The second playhouse, which will look like a gas station, will be built next summer, and both playhouses will be featured at the September 2022 Home-A-Rama event in Westfield.
Money will be raised through a silent auction bidding process at the home show, which draws nearly 10,000 attendees.
