Thanks to the generous support of employees, Citizens Energy Group was able to provide gifts for three families during the holiday season through the Paul Riggins Giving Tree Program.
The program, organized by the Citizens' United Way Team, is a tribute to former employee Paul Riggins, who, 27 years ago, taped a $5 bill to the outline of a Christmas tree on the wall of the facility where he worked as a machinist. Expecting that someone would take it, he vowed that he would give it to charity if it remained at the end of the week. To Riggins’ surprise, his coworkers began taping $1, $5, $10, $20 and $50 bills to the wall to be given to charity.
The team is proud to report that all gifts on the families’ wish lists were purchased. Thank you to everyone who made the program such a success for the 2019 holiday season!
