We appreciate our employees’ involvement in several projects that supported our community this past holiday season.
Virtual Food Drive for Gleaners
For the second consecutive year, Citizens went back to the roots of the Paul Riggins Giving Tree Program, encouraging employees to make financial donations instead of purchasing gifts for local families.
Through our second virtual food drive for Gleaners Food Bank of Indiana, Citizens employees raised $2,880. Although we raised about $300 less in 2021 than in 2020, we were able to provide more meals because Gleaners achieved a per-meal cost of 13 cents in the past year. Because of Gleaners’ buying power, our collective donation will provide more than 23,000 meals!

Diversity & Inclusion Team Shoe Drive
Citizens’ Diversity & Inclusion Team sponsored a shoe drive for non-profit organization Changing Footprints to support Afghan refugees residing at Camp Atterbury, many of whom came to Indiana with only sandals or lightweight shoes. Across the Trust, enough new and gently used shoes were collected to fill the minivan of the representative who picked up the donation!
Contact Center Food Drive
Employees in the Contact Center collected non-perishable food during the holiday season. Supervisor Arlene Johnson partnered with Friendship Missionary Baptist Church, located downtown, to provide the food to four families. Johnson organized the food drive to continue her father’s legacy of helping others.
“My late father was the pastor of this church for over 30 years,” Johnson said. “He believed it was important to help others, especially those in our local community. “I am humbled by, and appreciative of, all those who supported this effort, and I hope we can assist even more families in the future.”
Pastor Ronald Covington from Friendship Missionary Baptist Church was appreciative of the food donated by the Contact Center employees for local families in need.
Westfield
Westfield Operations employees supported the Westfield Youth Assistance Program as a Holiday Helper. Together, they pitched in $1,150 to buy gifts and provide grocery gift cards for a local family with four children who was without a home and living with a friend.
