A programmable thermostat can help you save energy and money.
Follow these thermostat tips to keep your heating and cooling system running efficiently:
- In the summer, save money by programming your thermostat to automatically turn up the air conditioner at night or when you're away from home.
- In the winter, set the thermostat to 68 degrees.
- Use programmable settings to adjust the temperature for when you are awake, asleep, or away.
- Install your thermostat away from heating or cooling vents or registers, heat-generating appliances or electronics, open doorways and direct sunlight.
- Resist the urge to override your settings. Every time you override, it costs you money.
- If your thermostat runs on batteries, change them at least once a year.
