Harrison Named Business Leader of the Year by Indiana Chamber

President & CEO Jeffrey Harrison was named the 2021 Ogletree Deakins Business Leader of the Year at the Indiana Chamber’s annual awards dinner on November 9.  

Now in its 32nd year, the event honors the best in Hoosier business, government, and community.  

Harrison was recognized for his involvement as chair of the Business Equity for Indy (BEI) initiative, as well as several other innovative projects at Citizens Energy Group, including the DigIndy Tunnel System and Citizens Reservoir. 

As Citizens’ leader, Harrison was praised for the company’s commitment to offering affordable and reliable energy services, specifically for implementing a policy for reconnecting/not turning off vital water service for nonpayment during the pandemic before any government moratorium was issued, and for establishing flexible payment arrangements for those facing financial hardships.

His compassion, intelligence, and thoughtfulness are hallmarks of his decision-making for Citizens’ consumers and employees, as well as for the Greater Indianapolis community efforts he and the company support,” said Indiana Chamber President Kevin Brinegar.

Other honorees for 2021 included Greater Lafayette (the NextEra Energy Resources Community of the Year), Megan Glover of 120Water (Dynamic Leader of the Year), and state Sen. Mark Messmer (Birch Bayh-Richard Lugar Government Leader of the Year).
