Perry K Stacks Getting Painted Colts Blue

An ongoing project at Citizens Energy Group’s Perry K Steam Plant is enhancing the Indianapolis skyline. The stacks, which direct combustion gasses into the atmosphere, are typically painted about every seven to nine years for the purpose of preservation.

This year, instead of getting another coat of gray, they are being painted blue and white – the Indianapolis Colts team colors.

Last summer, the City of Indianapolis and Lilly Endowment were interested in funding a beautification project in downtown Indianapolis. With the stacks due to be painted, Perry K was identified as a potential site. Although Perry K was not chosen for the beautification project, it sparked an idea to do something different with the paint color. Citizens’ management liked the idea of supporting the Colts. The Colts organization was receptive to the idea, and the painting project began June 17.

The painting is expected to be complete in September, depending upon weather.

As a neighbor to Lucas Oil Stadium, Perry K will help welcome Colts fans to Indianapolis this fall!
