By Adam Lowe on 6/16/23 11:45 AM

Jerome Mayden joined Citizens Energy Group in July 2011 as a team member in the contact center. Today, as a safety specialist supporting Shared Field Services and Corporate Support Services, Jerome provides CPR and safety training and accident/injury support.

What did you do prior to coming to Citizens?

Prior to Citizens, I worked as a forensic case manager and mental health coordinator for Community Corrections.

What led you to safety as a career?

I have worked in customer service and the medical and mental health fields, in varying leadership roles that included a variety of safety responsibilities. The diversity of my work tasks, interactions, and people are what keep me happy.

What do you enjoy about your job?

I enjoy meeting, working with, and helping my coworkers. I spent 11 years at the General Office; now my coworker base has expanded to every Citizens location and each of its employees.

Tell us about your team/department, and what you are responsible for at Citizens.

It is a true team, it’s not uncommon to get text messages or calls outside of working hours.  Work related or not, it’s like another group of friends that I happen to work with.

What do you appreciate about working at Citizens?

I appreciate the employees and the feeling of family that comes with working with everyone here. You drive through Langsdale and everyone waves even when you’re not sure who it is. Walk through the General Office and people say hello. Not all companies are like that, at least not to the same degree.

What is your favorite place to travel?

Any place new. I visit Vegas for family several times a year. Outside of that, I love to see new places and experiences. Along with lots of camping.

What are some ways we can do our part to create a safer workplace?

Health, Safety & Security is a relatively small department. It truly takes every employee to have a safe work environment. We are here to provide resources, support, and partnership, but it is ultimately up to each of us and how we conduct ourselves every day to create a safer workplace for us all.
