Remember these safety tips as colder temperatures arrive, along with the potential for snow and ice.

Be sure your vehicle’s tires have good tread. Before you leave home, completely clear your vehicle of snow and ice. Consider purchasing spray-on ice remover to make it easier to clear your windshield. Always dress for the weather, even if you are only going a short distance, and always have a blanket or extra clothing in your vehicle.

Stock up on salt or another deicer to keep steps and walkways safe and consider purchasing a weather radio. It’s also a good time to test your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors.

Don’t forget to disconnect garden hoses from faucets to prevent them from freezing and breaking.

Keep yourself healthy by getting a flu shot and trying to maintain a positive attitude.
