How to Blanch (and Enjoy) Asparagus

There are many reasons to put asparagus on your plate this spring. It is not only delicious, but it is also low in calories and high in nutrition. It is fiber-rich, high in vitamins like folate and minerals such as potassium and chromium.

Asparagus is also simple to cook. You can grill when the weather gets nicer, steam, roast and blanch. Learn how to blanch asparagus with the video below. 

 

How to Blanch Asparagus

  1. Cut off woody ends of asparagus. 
  2. Bring a large pot of salted water to boil. 
  3. Add asparagus for 2 minutes.
  4. Remove from water and place in cold water to stop the cooking process. 
  5. Enjoy with a dip like hummus, in green or grain salads, on top of pizza, or in pasta.
