How to Improve Your Sleep

Did you know if you get 7-9 hours of sleep a night your heart will be healthier? Sleep helps your body repair itself. Getting a good night’s rest doesn’t just make you alert it has many more benefits like improving memory, decreasing inflammation, reducing stress, and reducing depression. 

Improving sleep can be done by working these tips into your daily routine: 

  1. Exercise daily
  2. Avoid taking naps 
  3. Create a relaxing bedtime routine and practice it. 
  4. Have a sleep schedule, go to bed and wake up at the same time. Even on weekends. 
  5. Avoid bright lights before bed. 
  6. Avoid Alcohol, Cigarettes, and heavy meals in the evening. 
  7. Check your room temperature, the best sleeping temperature is between 60-67 degrees. 
  8. Get comfortable, make sure you have comfortable pillows and a good mattress. 
  9. Wind down an hour before bed 
  10. If you can’t sleep, go into the other room and do something until your tired. Avoid reading, watching tv, and being on your phone in bed.
